Hi Everyone!
2007's a fantastic year...my debut cd, LOVE SICK, is here!
I spent 2006 writing songs, playing shows and recording in the studio with some incredible producers and musicians.
I'd like to thank Rob Hoffman and Heather Holley of the magical ELICIT Music Studio in Los Angeles for producing my record. I'd also like to give production credits and thanks to both Tommy Walter (EEls, Glacier Hiking), and to Bryce Soderberg (Lifehouse). Bryce also played bass, guitar and sang on several tracks...we sing a duet entitled The Alley, track one, that's really special. Thanks also to Kurt James, a.k.a Tad for playing his phenomenal blues guitar solos and to Jesper Norskov Kristensen for his superb drumming. Mike Sawitzke...super recording engineer/grapic layout guy/handclapper; Don Spiro...what an artistic photographer. Thanks also to Sean Sloan for creating and maintaining this beautiful website. You are all my dear friends and I could not have done it without you...
My family and friends have all been so loving and supportive too...Thank YOU! Much LOVE!
I wrote this music with all of the love and truth in my heart....I look forward to sharing it with you....I hope you feel the same comfort and magic in listening to it that I experienced while creating it...Now it's time for you to GET LOVE SICK too...
P.S. Hey Kids and Parents...Thanks to all of you who attended my last Smally Book Signing/Concert. 100% of book sales that day went directly to Sri Lanka to help families in need. Dartone.org can feed a family of 5 for a few weeks with only $20, so imagine what a difference you made that day...and we had a blast, singing and laughing, besides! Friends of Smally ROCK! Our next book is in the works during 2007. So, is this going to be a great year? YES!

Hi Friends!
Smally and I want to thank you for a warm and wonderful year! We've made so many new friends, now that Smally's Secret Alphabook is available at Barnes and Noble Booksellers, nationwide.
We appreciate your super cool drawings and email requests for a "boy" in Smally's next adventure book! We are drawing pictures for that second book now, and because you've asked, we will introduce a cool BOY into Smally's world. Look forward to this book in 2007 boys and girls, because it's going to Rock!
Mark your calendars:
All of the original paintings for Smally's Secret Alphabook will be on exhibit Saturday, DECEMBER 2, 2006, from 2:30 - 4:30 in the afternoon.
Shakti's Elements
717 Broadway in Santa Monica CA, 90401
(on the corner of Lincoln and Broadway)
I will be there signing children's books!
A portion of the evening's proceeds from my book sales will go to www.DARTone.org, a hands-on, traveling team providing direct, fundamental resources to the people of Tsunami-devastated Sri Lanka. On 12/26/04, 100,000 people, and counting, were lost forever. The survivers still need us.
$20 feeds a family of 5 for 2 weeks.
$50 buys a water pump for a village. $100 equipts a fisherman to go back to work.
$1000 builds a new house.
...it costs so little to help so much, doesnt it?!

Hi Friends...
Hooray! Smally's Secret Alphabook is here at last! After rhyme-writing and hand-painting all 36 pages (while travelling and teaching the coolest preschoolers ever), I'm happy to announce that my groovy children's book is now available in full-color, hardcover at www.readingrox.com !
My Sincerest Thanks to: Elizabeth Kang, Rosita, Rose and Daddy Apodaca, and Bryce Soderberg for going above and beyond to make this happen.
Also, Thanks to: Sean Sloan, Roy at Elite Printing International, Professor Kathryn Kramer, Stacie Dickey and Scott for letting me paint at your cool S.F. abodes, Carole Frances my travel bud, for letting me paint in your pink Pennsylvania house attic, cuties: Randy Pesquiera (and David!), the Milk-n-Honey Girls (and every musician friend that I've rocked with: you helped inspire the book!), my groovy extended family, all of my students and teacher friends at Just Like Mom's School in Hollywood, Robert Williams for telling me to "make art more than a hobby" and to YOU. Please keep your wonderful emails flowing. I LOVE reading about how my books and paintings make you feel...Thank you! Keep Smiling,
***Special Note: in an effort to give parents a higher degree of control over what their children are exposed to I have opted to move my very tasteful yet mature themed artwork behind a Parental Guidance screen page. Click here to see the result.
2003/2004
Hey
Guys!
This past year and a half has been
such a crazy trip (literally! Cross-country and back!) . Anyway,
I want to send my family, old pals and new friends a big THANK
YOU for all of your support. So many of you made my Dream
Girls art signings a blast, from California all the way to New
Orleans (rock on Crewe d'St.Ann!), then up to Pennsylvania (where
the Lancaster babes make mad art), then train-bound to New York
(Liz and Marc!). Whew!
Thanks
also to Teacher
Created Materials, Nightengale Rose Publications and Bunni
Tobias Ph.D for publishing my illustrations in their books for
over a decade. From children's books to rock-n-roll, I'm grateful
to Michelle Carr and her fabulous ladies for inspiring Dream Girls,
which led to more fun. Thanks also to Wendy Benbrook, for taking
me on as costume sketch artist for the fabulous rock band, KISS!
Gene, Paul, Ace and Peter: kisses to you!
All
of this loving support from my rockin' family and friends (and
Printech in Huntington Beach), brings us to the unveiling of my
two latest art prints.
With
tenderness, silence and my devoted compassion for childhood feelings,
I've created "Night Room" and "Can I Keep Him?"
After years of working with kids through the Exteneded School
Program and Imagination Productions, I've learned that both children
and grown-ups are most intrigued with images that provoke questions.
See
the pictures. Look closely. What is going on? What are the secrets?
What will happen next? My paintings whisper the old line, "Once
upon a time...." The rest is up to you. What is happening?
You decide....then let me know! To view more of my books go to Links.
Until
then,
P.S.
I'm working now on both illustrating and writing my own very silly
children's book...I'll let you know when it's ready! |
